Dickinson County law enforcement locates 5.2 pounds of Fentanyl following a traffic stop Wednesday of last week on Interstate 70.
According to Dickinson County Sheriff Jerry Davis the Drug Enforcement Unit stopped a passenger car around 11:30 in the morning at mile marker 274 about a mile west of Abilene for numerous traffic violations. During the stop, the Deputy became suspicious and deployed a canine (K-9) around the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle 5.2 pounds of fentanyl was located. The driver of the car and sole occupant of the vehicle 39 year old Latoya Walker of Dublin Ohio was arrested on narcotic charges for trafficking fentanyl.
The Sheriff’s Office reminds the public of the dangers of fentanyl which can be lethal in extremely small doses. Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is 80 to 100 times stronger than morphine. The drug has been responsible for thousands of deaths across the United States.
