ABILENE: The Abilene Cowboys continued their trend of fast starts Tuesday night in their win over the Panthers.  Abilene jumped out to a 25-6 lead at the end of the 1st quarter.  The Cowboys would continue to stretch out the lead and led by as many as 37 points in the 3rd quarter. There was a running clock in the 4th.  The margin of victory may have been a little bit of a surprise from the standpoint that the Cowboys won 54-50 at Concordia on December 15 and lost to them last year in Abilene.

Abilene was led by Senior, Brax Fisher, who finished with a game-high 17 points. Fisher was honored in between games for being selected to play in this year’s Shrine Bowl. He is the first Abilene player to be selected since 2016, when Harley Hazlett earned the honor.

In the game Tuesday, Fisher had plenty of help. Junior, Weston Rock, poured in a career-high 13 points. Senior, Stocton Timbrook also reached double-figures with 10 points. In all, the Cowboys had 10 different players score.  Abilene improved to 13-2, 6-0 with the victory.  Concordia fell to 7-7, 3-2 with the loss.  Abilene will host Wamego on Friday.  The Chapman girls upset Wamego 45-33 and the Wamego boys defeated Chapman 65-52.
