More than 1,000 acres burned and a residential structure was lost in a grass fire in Geary County on Wednesday. The fire occurred south of Junction City near Highway 77 and Lyons Creek Road. Crews from Junction City, Dickinson County, Riley County Morris County, Fort Riley, Grandview and the Kansas Forest Service fought the blaze. Area farmers also brought water to fill tanks. EMS said one firefighter was treated for smoke inhalation.
