Finalists for McKinley Elementary Principal, Wed. Feb. 22nd

 

Abilene Public Schools, USD #435 will interview two of four candidates for McKinley Intermediate School this evening, Wednesday, February 22nd.  Both candidates are scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.

 

Mrs. Robyn Pekarek:  Mrs. Robyn Pekarek is currently an Educational Consultant for Smoky Hill Education Service Center in Salina.  She has also been an Instructional Coach/Intervention Teacher for Solomon, a classroom teacher for three different districts, an elementary reading strategist for Emporia Schools, and a special education resource room teacher for three different districts as well. After graduating from Hillsboro High School, Mrs. Pekarek attended Kansas State University to earn her Bachelor’s degree as well as her Master’s degree.  She also completed her Educational Leadership licensure through Fort Hays State University.   

 

A tour of McKinley School followed by a short reception for Mrs. Pekarek is scheduled from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. McKinley staff members and the McKinley School Site Council members are encouraged to attend the reception in the McKinley Intermediate School Library.

Ms. Sheila Shaffer:  Ms. Shaffer currently teaches Chemistry, Physical Science and Physics at Salina Central High School.  She attended Kansas State University, where she earned two different Master’s Degrees, one in Educational Leadership and the other in Technology Curriculum Development.  She also completed a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis in Biology.

 

 

 

Ms. Shaffer’s leadership experiences include serving as an assistant principal for a summer school program, several years as a science department co-chair, the Salina district’s Professional Development Chair, IPS Chair, and ELO Chair.  Ms. Shaffer has also been a teacher-leader and/or sponsor for several other programs.
