A 50-year-old Saline County woman found dead in a residence south of Salina died of what appeared to be a gunshot wound. Additionally, two dogs found dead at the residence also suffered apparent gunshot wounds. Deputies were sent to 554 W. Parsons Road for a welfare check on Laurie Likins. When deputies arrived at the residence, they found a broken window and saw blood inside the residence. When they called out for anyone in the residence, they made contact with 55-year-old Brent Allen Spainhour who also lived there. Spainhour appeared agitated and told deputies that Likins was dead inside the residence. Spainhour was taken into custody at the residence. He was booked into the Saline County Jail on Murder in the first degree and cruelty to animals
